As we enter the 2024 indoor campaign, the cupboard appears stocked with talent. There are three returners under 7.70, 11 under 7.80, and 35 under 8.00. It will be interesting to see how things transpire this season.
Katelyn Lehnen was the queen of this event, going undefeated against state competition and 16th overall in the nation with a slick time of 7.45. Closing in as a top 10 returner, Lehnen will share the indoor campaign with basketball. Look for spot action until early March and around indoor nationals.
Former newcomer Mariyah Robinson enjoyed an introductory season by taking 4th at the Top Times meet. Later, Robinson all-state and summer track All-American honors during the outdoor season. She is on the verge of being a superstar in the sport.
Another basketball player, Lena Jackson, surprised quite a few people when she took the ITT title in 7.66. Can she dip under 7.60?
