Bradley sophomore Kristen Busch on Tuesday was named the Missouri Valley Conference Female Cross Country Athlete of the Week after winning the individual title at the Illinois State Invitational in Normal. Busch posted the fastest 5K time in the MVC this season and the second fastest 5K time in school history Friday, taking top  honors with a time of 17:21.05. KENT, Ohio – The Bradley women's track & field team opened indoor competition at two separate venues Saturday – Kent State's Doug Raymond lt;br />Invitational and Northern Iowa's Panther Open. Juniors Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North H.S.) and Leann Murphy (Rochester, lt;br />Ill./Rochester H.S.) each finished in the top-10 of the 1,000-meter finals at the Doug Raymond Invite, while freshman Nicole Benson (Peoria, lt;br />Ill./Limestone H.S.) earned two top-five finishes at the Panther Open in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Bradley men's and women's cross country teams completed the 2009 season with solid performances at the NCAA Midwest Regional Saturday. Redshirt-freshman Nicole Benson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) set a 6K personal best with a time of 21:34.4, good enough for 24th place. Behind Benson's All-Region performance, the Bradley women earned 11th place overall. In the men's 10K race, senior Pat Greene (Joliet, Ill./Plainfield South H.S.) finished 98th overall in 33:55.6, helping the Braves claim 21st place.

PEORIA, Ill. – The Bradley men's and women's cross country programs combined for one of the finest Missouri Valley Conference Championship performances in school history on a wet and muddy Saturday at Newman Golf Course. In the men's 8K championship, the Braves earned their best finish since 1989, taking fifth with 142 points. Led by all-conference performers Nicole Benson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) and Mary Goldkamp (Florissant, Mo./McCluer North H.S.), the women's team placed third in the 5K championship with 93 points, their best conference finish since 2002. It also marked the first time both squads finished in the upper half of the final team standings in the same year.

DePaul's Matthew Graham took home the men's 8K title with a time of 24:24. Indiana State claimed its fourth-straight men's team championship with all seven runners finishing in the top-10. The Sycamores also won the women's team title for the second-straight year, placing four runners in the top-10. Bradley's men's and women's teams each turned in third place finishes.

Nearly 400 collegiate runners will gather at Detweiller Park on Friday, Sept. 11 to participate in the 24th installment of the meet.
