PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior men's cross country runner Andrew Wieser (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after pacing the Braves at last week's Illinois Intercollegiate Championships in Normal, Ill.

Wieser turned in a career-best 8K time of 25:39, surpassing his previous career-best time set during the 2007 as he helped the Bradley men's cross country squad to a fourth-place finish among NCAA Division I teams in the field.  He finished 11th among Division I runners in the field to pace BU and was one of four Bradley runners to clock career-best times.  An accounting major, Wieser owns a 3.69 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Wieser and the Braves return to action Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Sean Earl Loyola Invitational in Chicago.
