Jack Jennings en route to a win at the Palatine Meet of Champions Frosh/Soph race

2023 was an overall solid year of cross country statewide. It was especially good for the class of 2027, in which there was a sub-15:00 clocking, five others under 15:10, and a total of 10 runners that dipped below 15:20.

Jack Jennings was among the top incoming freshmen based on his outstanding middle school performance. He did not disappoint, running as Fremd's second runner throughout the season and producing a personal best of 14:57. Jennings competed in the state championship and finished as the top freshman with a fine time of 15:01.

Alex Batsala and Dylan Buturusis competed in the state championship for Plainfield South, producing the most freshmen in Class 3A. In all, there were 15 runners from the class of 2027 in the 3A field.
