As we put a bow on the conference championships and any external meets, we move into the IHSA post-season with some stout times. Ben Crane of New Trier is leading the charge of a solid senior class, who clocked a personal best of 14:15 at the CSL Championship. It appears that his blades are almost sharp for what is to come. A few weeks ago, he indicated, "I want to break 14:00 at the state meet." That may be in the cards if the weather and competition are right.
Zach Thoman has run sparingly but has a 14:20 personal best from the ultra-fast Granite City Invite course. This list includes five other performances from that early September invite.
