Glenview (Glenbrook South) Sectional-

RESULTS I PHOTOS

Onsite Summary: Prospect did more than survive and advance en route to next weekend's state championship. The Knights amassed 169 points. The 4x800 (9:24.93), 4x100 (48.69), 4x200 (1:42.97), and 4x400 (3:58.08) were relay sweeps; speedster Charlotte Deines copped the 100 (12.20) and 200 (24.80); Anna Harden (Sr., Hersey) cruised in the 3200 (10:43.38), but overcame a tremendous deficit late to win the 1600 in 4:58.95

Harvey (Thornton) Sectional-

Onsite Summary: There is a reason races are run on the track and not on the paper. There were a number of outcomes that were surprising and will shape the state meet next week. Homewood-Flossmoor and Chicago Kenwood got the fireworks started in the 4x100. HF prevailed in the state's fastest race 47.01 to 47.08. A total of five squads got into next week's Charleston sweepstakes. Senior star Ana-Liese Torian of HF was on the winning relay. However, disaster struck Torian in the 100H when she was leading with just a few hurdles remaining, hit one, and took a tumble. By the time she got back on her feet, it was over. The initial fifth place finish turned into a disqualification.

Another high profile athlete, Asia Thomas of Chicago Kenwood, who ran on the blazing 4x100 relay did not contest the 400 even though she was a heavy favorite. Thomas did win the 200 in 24.76.

Huntley Sectional-
Onsite Summary: From the moment you walked into Red Raiders Sports Complex, there was a feeling that something extraordinary was going to pop off. The long and triple jumps were the centerpiece of field events. The triple jump pitted Huntley sisters senior Alex Johnson and sophomore Dominique Johnson against one another and the competition. Dominique did not take long to get on the board with a 39-8 effort and time to relax for next week. Alex on the other hand provided nerve-wracking drama. She fouled her opening two attempts and was down for a final effort. After consulting with her coach regarding her marks, she barrowed down the runway and connected on a 40-1 winning effort... Alex returned later to win the long jump with a goddess-like 20-6! It is the fourth best effort in state history.

Multi event specialist Rylee Lydon (Sr., Prairie Ridge) qualified for state in four individual events: LJ (19-9), HJ (5-7.75), 100H (14.95), and 400 (55.48).

Rachel Soukup (Sr., Prairie Ridge) followed her teammate with several event winners. The first was a PB in the 3200 (10:20.07) and the 1600 (5:05.70)

Palos Heights (Shepard) Sectional-
Summary: Lyons Twp wins the team title big (127 points); Catherine Sommerfeld (Sr., Lyons) is victorious in the 3200 (10:56.17); Kyla Motley (So., Shepard) wins three events: 100H (15.38), LJ (18-9.25), TJ (37-0)

Rolling Meadows Sectional-
