
Illinois high school track and field athletes posted several personal bests during meets held April 6-11.

Landon Golden (Prairie Ridge, Crystal Lake) threw 166-0 in the discus at the FVC Boys Quad at Cary-Grove on April 6, improving from his previous best of 142-7 set in June 2025. The mark breaks the school record and ranks #46 in Illinois among 5,222 athletes, with Golden placing second among 39 competitors.
Amanda Warren (Normal Community West) ran 11:23.41 in the 3200 meters at the Triad Lady Knight Invitational on April 10, bettering her previous personal record of 11:48.86. Warren finished third of 15 competitors and ranks #129 in the state and #32 among Illinois seniors.
Kali Gilpin (Tuscola) cleared 5-4 in the high jump at Arcola Outdoor #2 on April 7, improving from 5-1.75 to set a school record. Gilpin won the event among five competitors and ranks #43 in Illinois, also setting a personal best in the 200 meters with a time of 29.73, down from 30.38.
Hamdi Ayyash (Lockport Twp.) threw 170-0 in the discus at the Belleville West Norm Armstrong Invitational on April 11, improving from 151-7.25 set in May 2025. Ayyash placed third among 56 competitors and ranks #33 in the state.
Joseph Frierdich (Carbondale) threw 191-9 in the discus at the Carterville Co-Ed Open on April 11, improving from his previous best of 176-8.75 set in March 2026. The sophomore won the event among 20 competitors, set a school record, and ranks #4 in Illinois and #1 among state sophomores.
Josephine Bernard (Stevenson, Lincolnshire) ran 59.28 in the 400 meters at the Bison Varsity Outdoor Invite on April 11, improving from 1:00.39. Bernard placed second among 22 competitors and ranks #114 among 8,108 Illinois athletes in the event.
Ameena Ross (Rock Island) ran 14.46 in the 100-meter hurdles at the Lee Calhoun High School Invitational on April 10, improving from 14.76 set in April 2026. The senior won the event among 22 competitors, set a school record, and ranks #14 in the state and #3 among Illinois seniors.
Dimitar Bratovanov (Chicago Lane) clocked 4:26.24 in the Rising Stars division of the 1600m at the S. Pasadena Invitational in California. The sophomore ran 4:36.68 last May and ranks #6 for his class.
