Subtraction means addition and that math means good news for the 2A boys classification. This simply means the subtraction of guys who competed in 3A for track are now in 2A... and there are plenty to from. This could be one of the deepest fields in this classification since its inception
When one era comes to an end another one emerges. Three season ago we saw a young sophomore Jesse Reiser (McHenry) come on to the scene and finish 7th. Reiser would eventually go on to win several state titles (xc, track) and collect a few more All-American plaques. Now, the time is for someone else to pick up the pieces and run away with it. Throughout the 2014 cross country season, as weekly national rankings were published and dominated by east and west coast teams, those of us in Illinois knew the team depth in the Prairie state was being grossly overlooked...
State week! Historic Detweiller Park in Peoria has held a special place in my heart ever since I first ran there my sophomore year during the season but I don’t think I’m the only person in Illinois who feels that way.
