Distance runners are a different breed when it comes to indoor track. Many times it's either they are fully committed to racing or it's a pastime to get through the winter doldrums. Either way, there are many great performers back on the scene.

Columbia's Ethan Hogan enjoyed a tremendous 2023 indoor season in which he clocked a robust 4:08.52. He is the state's top returner by the numbers but sustained an injury halfway through the cross country and had to shut things down. The word on the street for the U of North Carolina recruit is he may start the season later than usual.

Before Benton's Gavin Genisio packs his bags and heads to the University of Tennesee for the next four years, he will be aiming to take out the competition and become the king of the hill.
