2023 was a very good year in the half-mile arena, and some stout returners are ready to make noise. There are 22 runners who broke 2:00 and 32 under 2:01- now that's tremendous depth!
Camyn Viger is one of the most prolific middle- distance runners in the state. He has the endurance (great cross-country runner) and speed (can kick with anyone) it takes to be a pre-imminent threat in his secondary event. The Cougar from Plainfield South returns as the state leader at 1:54.57.
Patrick Hilby of Aurora Central Catholic came of age at the end of the outdoor season a year ago. However, some folks have become absent-minded because he dominated the 2A Illinois Top Times meet. Hilby will again be in the catbird seat during the undercover season.
