The first time that Micah Wilson won his athlete of the honor, it was the closest tally in history. The St. Charles East star shared the weekly award with Ryan Watts of Edwardsville. Both standout harriers tied with 38.7% of the votes. However, this time it was a much different tale as Wilson ran away with the votes, garnering 41.3% compared to Justin Mumford's (Trenton Wesclin) 16.0%.
Despite a tremendous season-best 14:46 clocking, the win was not a slam dunk. Wilson indicated that his mental and physical will had been tested to the limited leading up to the Saturday's Lake Park Quad affair.
Wilson endured a sore lower body that almost prevented him from competing. After a swift first mile in 4:42, it was a typical beatdown handed down to his opponents. Look for Wilson to continue to do amazing things this season!
