Cross Country season is in full bloom now thanks to fine performances during the past week
If voting means anything, Morgan Mackie took home 47.4% of the 375 votes cast. The emerging freshman from Loyola Academy quietly made a name for herself through the junior high ranks by winning an IESA cross country state title a year ago. And just this summer avid a full COVID-19 attack, Mackie ran an astonishing 5:02.64 full mile. It is efforts like this that lead to big future offerings.
At the Palatine Quad, Mackie took control of the race and put on an outstanding performance that led to a 17:10 clocking. It is believed to be the Loyola Academy school record. One thing for sure is that Mackie's mark is the second-best time in the state and she is one that everyone should not sleep on!
Congrats Morgan on your honor!
