Samantha Poglitsch has competed in four meets this season and won three of them. Of those competitions, the Wheaton-Warrenville South senior standout has defeated Katrina Schlenker of Batavia twice- most recently a season-best 17:16-17:18 at home. The victory comes on the heels of a Schlenker thumping several weeks ago. Poglitsch now has the fourth-fastest three-miler in the state.
As for the voting in week #5 itself, Poglitsch endured a nailbiter against Sophia McNerney of Downers Grove South 96-91. Poglitsch took 26.4% of the vote vs. 25.0% for McNerney.
