FULL RETURNING LIST
---------------------
Last year was a great year, nearly record-breaking. 2025 is expected to be just as potent, if not more. The talent is deep, and the cast is long despite several top returners sitting out during the undercover season.
Annika Swan (Jr., Chicago St. Ignatius): Top indoor returner and the overall best miler of a great group. Swan started this year when she left off the outdoor season, pulsating with a third-place finish at the ultra-elite HOKA Misfits Mile in 4:50.94 (4:49.25 at 1600m). The only thing left this winter is earning All-American honors at a national championship meet.
Isabella Keller (So., Effingham St. Anthony): Did not contest the event much but was a premier force and would later factor into one of the best performers in the entire state. Keller finished second at the state championship last spring while owning a personal best of 4:51.77.
Mia Sirois (So., Barrington): Was emerging into what we all see today. It was a record-setting cross-country season that has set up the current situation. Sirois moved into elite status here after placing fourth in the HOKA, 4:51.49. This performance solidifies her as a dual threat for championship time.
Sundara Weber (Jr., Sandwich): Turned a big corner during the preseason with big performances in the two-mile/3000, but it was the 4:50.09 sizzler at the Morolake Akinosun Invitational.
Veronica Znajda (Sr., Prospect): Known more for her cross country and other event exploits, but her runner-up finish at the Illinois Top Times to complete last year's indoor season was probably her best performance on the calendar. She took 6th in this event at the 3A championship.
Meg Peterson (Jr., Prospect): The other half of the Knights distance duo with Znajda, Peterson's career has been marvelous to date.
Scout Storms (Sr., Barrington): A staple in the sport for four years and has given tirelessly to her teammates. Has never won a state track title. There could be one more opportunity if the cards fall right.
Ava Gilley (Sr., Downers Grove North): The U of Texas commit concentrated on the 4x8 and team-oriented goals last winter. However, she does have a 4:54.74 PB on her resume from outdoors.
Sophia Ramirez (Jr., Washington): A wonderful talent who started a bit sluggish through the indoor season but was able to close the calendar with a 4:55.42 PB.
