Conference championship weekend dots racing map

The stakes will be high this weekend from all over the state because of conference championships

---

Aside from the Illinois Elementary State Championship (IESA) and the Peoria Heights Patriot Invite at Detweiller Park, it's basically a festival of conference meet championships.

Featured Meets

CPL Boys Championship

Washington Park; Chicago, IL

Oct 17, 2021

MileSplit On-Site Coverage

-The last race on the docket will see defending champion and 3A #25 Chicago Jones Prep as the favorite. Lane Tech, Payton, and Whitney Young do not plan to lay an egg for the Eagles. Individually, Lane junior Hunter Whitney has been racing well. He will be challenged by Jones Prep soph Sam Berlinghof. They both have an opportunity to crest the 15:10 mark.

CPL Girls Championship

Washington Park; Chicago, IL

Oct 16, 2021

MileSplit On-Site Coverage

-Defending champion Lane Tech will see some major heat from 2A #18 Payton and #24 Northside Prep. Good pack running is what is going to win the team. Look for the individual crown to come down to Elia Ton-That (Sr., Northside Prep) and Evelyn Hett (Jr., Jones Prep). These girls are two of the top runners in the state and the all-time meet record could fall.

Chicago Catholic League

Lewis University; Romeoville, IL

Oct 16, 2021

-An ailing Loyola Academy team will be favored over St. Ignatius and perhaps 2A #2 Fenwick. The Friars have been hot and this is an opportunity for them to unseat the Ramblers. Spencer Werner of Loyola is the favorite but can his team overcome the strong pack of Fenwick and St. Iggy? And don't forget about Depaul College Prep. They have been tearing up the 1A scene all year long.

Girls Catholic Athletic Conference

Lewis University; Romeoville, IL

Oct 16, 2021

-3A #11 Loyola Academy is still the team to beat despite not having ace soph Morgan Mackie in the lineup. 2A #19 St. Ignatius of Chicago will give it their all.

Fox Valley Conference Championship

Veteran's Acres; Crystal Lake, IL

Oct 16, 2021

Boys: Some good 2A schools are featured here. #8 Crystal Lake Central, #14 Cary-Grove are the names to watch.

Girls: #2 Crystal Lake South is the fave but crosstown rival South who comes in at #6 will be lurking. 3A Jacobs is good too. They are ranked #25.

Dukane Conference Championships

Lake Park High; School Roselle, IL

Oct 16, 2021

Boys: Mostly 3A squads here and #9 St. Charles East is the team to chase. #14 Wheaton South will fight to get another team crown. Micah Wilson (Sr., SCE) is the guy everyone will keep their eyes on.

Girls: this could be one of the most contested championships in quite a while. Town rivals #14 St. Charles East and #16 St. Charles North should fight for the crown. However, #18 Wheaton South has improved big time since the start of the season. Katrina Schlenker of Batavia will be looking to win her third title in four years.

DVC Championships

Waubonsie Valley High School; Aurora, IL

Oct 16, 2021

Boys: this could be the year that the strong pack running #8 Waubonsie Valley crew takes home the championship. #13 Neuqua Valley will certainly have a say in the team sweepstakes. Riley Newport (Jr., Dekalb) and Gabe Ryan (Sr., Naperville North) will fight for the individual title.

Girls: #2 Naperville North all day here of course but watch and see if senior Lucy Westlake can bring home the gold for her Huskies.

HOI Conference Meet

Lower Lake Park; Eureka, IL

Oct 16, 2021

-1A #24 El Paso-Gridley is ready to defend the boys title; senior Anna Perry of Eureka is the heavy favorite and so is her #4 Hornets

IESA State Meet

Maxwell Park; Normal, IL

Oct 16, 2021

Mid Illini Conference Championships

Detweiller Park; Peoria, IL

Oct 15, 2021

-The newly college announced Wilson Georges of Limestone will be headed to the University of Colorado. Before he goes, he is ready to win another title on the Detweiller course. #1 2A Morton should run here. For the girls, #4 Dunlap and #13 Metamora will battle for the championship.

MSL Conference Championships

Hoffman Estates High School; Hoffman Estates, IL

Oct 16, 2021

Boys: one of the most competitive conferences in the state will again be a strong one. #11 Palatine appears to be the team to beat. #16 Prospect, #17 Hersey, and #19 Barrington will make it a day of respectful racing. The individual race could see a number of solid runners battle for the tape. Joey Furlong of Barrington just might be the champion.

Girls: Is there anyone who can stop #9 Prospect? The Knights have built their team on strong pack running but they do have two strong front runners in Hailey Erickson and Lily Ginsberg. #17 Barrington will fight for second.

Peoria Heights Patriot Invitational

Detweiller Park; Peoria, IL

Oct 16, 2021

SWSC Conference Meet

Lockport High School; Lockport, IL

Oct 16, 2021

-Is there anyone to stop #1 Sandburg boys? Nope. Maybe a "Blitzkrieg" or close to it would be something of a delight.

WSC-Gold Division Championship

O'Brien Park; Downers Grove, IL

-Both Downers Grove South boys and girls should cruise to titles.

WSC-Silver Championships

Lyons Township High School; Lyons Township, IL

Oct 16, 2021

The top conference in the state by a landslide and maybe one of the elite conferences in the country will be on display.

Boys: #4 Hinsdale Central might be the favorite but #6 York, #7 Lyons Twp, and #10 Downers Grove North could come up with the red roses. #24 Oak Park-River Forest is not a big team either and they might finish 5th or 6th. Look for Dan Watcke to battle a field of strong competitors for the individual crown.

Girls: #1 York all day here. The Lady Dukes have yet to be challenged and although the league is very strong, they should breeze once again. #5 Hinsdale Central, #6 Lyons Twp, #10 Downers North, #15 Oak Park-River Forest, and #20 Glenbard West will prove the depth of a great meet... senior Josephine Welin is the people's choice to win it all.
