If votes matter then Samantha Poglitsch is the president. She garnered over 55% of the vote (290 people cast their voice) in our first fan poll of the season.
The Wheaton-Warrenville South senior placed second in the 2019 3A cross country championship. Many fans had ticketed her to have a 2020 outstanding track and field season. Unfortunately, COVID-19 wiped out a portion of the indoor season and all of the IHSA outdoor campaign.
Although some meet directors around the country and Midwest held some top-notch competitions, Poglitsch did not partake. Fast forward to August 29, in her first cross country race of the season hosted by Batavia HS, Poglitsch was more than ready. In a head to head battle against outstanding Batavia junior Katrina Schlenker, Poglitsch bid her time and pulled away on the final straight to win over Schlenker 17:39.08-17:39.74.
