One of the premier indoor track and field events during the COVID-19 era is back and will be on Illinois soil at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center (Gately). Previously, it was held in January 2022 in Louisville, Kentucky.

The girls take center stage on Saturday afternoon at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Track and Field Center

Angelena Bullocks (Jr., Chicago Whitney Young) will be fully displayed against all comers. Bullocks will put her IL#2 60m (7.52) on the line. She has run under 7.70 on three occasions and won in her last three contests. In her second event, Bullocks busted a personal best of 24.82 in the 200m, the third fastest time in the state.

The 300m is an off event, but it could be an "on event" because it is loaded! State 400m champion Naomi Bey-Osborne (Jr., Kankakee), Trinity Noble (So., Kankakee), Charlotte Price (Sr., Chicago Lane), and Jahnel Bowman (Sr., Plainfield South) will all compete in what could be a preview of the state 400m final. This is an excellent collection of sprinters with great resumes. Bowman and Price are at the top of the leaderboard entering the meet. We could see the winning time go under 40 seconds. Osborne will also contest her prime event, the 400m.

Jordan Hamb (So., Chicago Southshore International) vs. Simone Bernard (Jr., Chicago Whitney Young) have a friendly rivalry in the 60HH, but it's been all Hamb this year. Hamb is the state leader at 8.75 and is ready to drop that time. Bernard is also due for her win over Hamb. Something has got to give.

One of the state's top 800m runners Ahry Comer (Sr., Pope County) makes her return to Gately and will be in search of nabbing the state leading mark. She currently sits in the #2 spot 2:12.11.

The 1600 will be the distance race of the day. Comer is in this event on fresh legs, which will be great against Mia Kotler (Jr., Chicago Latin) and Anna Lester (Sr., Vernon Hills). Add In Grace Mullin (Sr., Chicago Christian), Ali Londrigan (Fr., Chatham-Glenwood), and Sophie Mullins (Sr., Chicago Lane) to keep things honest.

The state's top returning shot putter, Nikkel Johnson (Sr., Kankakee), makes her season debut against Jaloni Wiley (So., Homewood-Flossmoor), a 40-foot performer. It will be the field's best event at this meet.
