Chatham-Glenwood's Katelyn Lehnen had an All-American girl
type of freshman campaign, dropping super times that would've made most upperclassmen
proud. She was on her way to a super sophomore type of year until an injury acted
as sort of a derailment. Fortunately, the defending 200m state champion returned
for the IHSA state series and earned three all-state honors. Even in a
shortened season, she still clocked 11.92, 24.58, and 55.53 (best among sophs).
Naomi Bey-Osborne of Kankakee is similar to Lehnen in that
she was an accomplished trackster with a state championship medal on her
resume. For the second consecutive year, Bey-Osborne won the 2A 400m title and
she teamed up with her Kays mates to win the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. She also
had the top mark in the 200 with a time of 24.46.
