Owen Horeni closes in a 3A qualifying spot in the 800m


2023 was an incredible year for the freshman class as exceptional performances dotted the event logs.

Cumberland's Reid Carlen may have had the fastest seasonal time of 10.89 but it was Brady Anderson of Morrison who took fifth place in the 1A state championship that stood out. He was the only ninth grader to advance to the finals regardless of classification. Anderson's time of 11.07 would have placed in all divisions.

22.27 is a very respectable 200m time for anyone, but it so happens to belong to state qualifier Lesroy Tittle of Lagrange Park (Nazareth).

Owen Horeni completed one of the most decelerated seasons in state history for a freshman distance runner. Horeni, who competes for Yorkville, earned two all-state medals.
