Daisha Brunson leaping over hurdles enroute to a state championship
The indoor season gave us all a glimpse of what was to come
from this dynamic class. It was there that we saw a wide range of outstanding
performances that matched up against the top classes. One notable performance
was Meg Peterson of Prospect winning the 800m at the Illinois Top Times in
2:14.47.
The outdoor season did not waver against any and all-comers
on the scene. Peterson was not the outdoor half-mile champion, but she
contributed mightily to the cause of her mates.
The major headline story was Daisha Brunson's amazing feat
at the state championship. The heralded athlete from Hoffman Estates did not
play any games with her peers. In her main event, she attacked the 100H, in the
final and shocked the field by winning in 14.16. It was the top legal mark (+1.6)
in the state and the third best in the country for her class.
Peterson has the top two-mile in the country for her class
with a time of 11:05.89...
