RESULTS
Two of the state's top sprinters Gilbert Jackson and Daniel Lacy. The seniors from Urbana and Champaign Centennial could be frenemies now, but at one time they had the same club coach and dominated their foes during the off-season. As strange as this might sound both athletes are not in the same IHSA Classification. Urbana is a 2A school and Centennial resides among the 3A. So it's possible that the two of them could be state champions in the same events in less than two weeks in Charleston.
At the recent Big 12 Conference Championship host at Peoria Richwoods, the pair linked up for a now classic duel in the 400m. It is perhaps the perfect race to send the fans out on a high note as we prep for the post-season. Jackson has been regarded as a middle-distance runner early on in his career. Lacy on the other hand has been outstanding in the short sprints. So the one-lapper is an event they are evenly matched.
