-There was quite a shift in the rankings as Lincoln-Way East drops from its perch. Let's not get it twisted though. The Griffin's super star Mariam Azeez is the real deal as she put her team on her back at the Sue Pariseau Invite. Ms. Azeez won three events: 100, 200, and LJ. She is ranked second in the state in the jump. Her teammate Sophia Barnard is among the leaders in the both hurdles. The margin between first and third is slim.
Huntley won the strong Homewood-Flossmoor Invite and that accounts for something. The Johnson sisters Alex Johnson and Dominique Johnson have the triple and long jump on lockdown. Between them you can just about book 30+ points per meet. They A. Johnson in the open 100 and 4x100 as added value.
Watch out but it looks like Homewood-Flossmoor is back on the block. The Vikings sent Ana-Liese Torian into battle at home last weekend and she snapped! Torian copped three state leading marks: 100H (13.93), 300H (44.53), and 200 (24.94). The short races aided by strong winds but then again no one could touch Torian. Teammate Alex Edison means intact with several wins of her own in the 100 (12.00) and 400.
