The landscape of Class A girls cross country changed quickly from 2018 to 2019 with some significant classification moves. In particular, was the movement of Lianna Surtz and her Aurora Rosary teammates down from 2A. Surtz would win her first individual state title. Normal U High came in and placed in the top five. Winnebago surprised some folks with a late-season run that made them one of the best teams in the state regardless of classification. The Indians averaged 17:55 per girl which would have put them ahead of Benet Academy (2A champs) and 8th in the 3A division! It should be another great season over hill and dale regardless of the current socio-political environment.
