Nike Cross Nationals: Let's Meet The Midwest Individual Girls

Katelynne Hart (Fr., Glen Ellyn Glenbard West)- All of you did not see her coming enough though she was somewhere dominating kids of her age on the running circuit. Hart spent her last summer as a middle school runner putting down seasoned high school times. She finished the beating by running 9:36, 4:46, 2:13 in metric measurements. Those times of course if were eligible for high school databases, would put many girls in danger. Still not many fans of the sport or even media outlets took notice once Hart entered the scene. She lost her first high school race to stand out teammate Lindsey Payne and foe Ashley Tutt (Sr., Minooka) by 17 and 8 seconds. That was the last and only time Hart took an L. Hart's pedigree is that she is a former soccer player and gymnast. The winning effort in Terre Haute was one of poise and seasoned veteran style. Hart overpowered the competition in the late going with her tremendous closing speed and rest is history. The 17:05 rates as #2 all time on the LaVern Gibson course.
