In Her Own Words: Skyler Bollinger

Hi, I’m Skyler Bollinger and I’m a sophomore at Yorkville high school. This season I am very excited and thankful to be blogging for MileSplit about my experiences every week. So here’s a little about my team and I. Last season, I finished 5th individually at state and my team took home the 2A team title for the second year in a row. I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming season and all the fun and excitement that will come with it!

This summer we trained six days a week, ranging from 35-55 miles a week and I fortunately have stayed injury free. The goal for summer training is always base miles with minimal speed workouts and it’s been going well. Early in the summer I had the amazing opportunity to go to Eugene, Oregon and watch the NCAA DI Track and Field championships. It really got me excited for the season and jump started my summer.  In July, I attended the University of Wisconsin cross country camp and had a blast. To top it all off, our team traveled to Detweiller to race at Detweiller at Dark where we won as a team and I won individually! Now that all the excitement of summer is coming to an end I’m ready to jump into XC.

I have been blessed with an amazing team and we are working hard for a third team title, and I would also like to try for the individual title.  Post season we plan on going to Nike regionals as a team and our goal is to qualify for nationals.  I will also be competing at footlocker regionals and hope to qualify for nationals there also.  I’m very excited for the upcoming season and cant wait to keep everyone updated, GO FOXES!
