====

Jayon Morrow was not a household name in track and field before the start of the Morolake Akinosun Elite Invitational. However, after two hard performances, he earned his first honor in track and field. Morrow, a sophomore at Kankakee HS, but representing the Vipers Track Club during the pre-season won the section six 400m in 50.01. The time is good for No. 2 in the state.

Morrow kept the heat in the 200m, taking second in the fast section and third overall in 22.72. It's the fastest time in the state.

It was a rout in the voting poll as Morrow collected almost 60% of the vote, proving he is as popular among the fans as he is in performances.
