Last weekend nearly 10 hours and over 600 miles away at the University of Arkansas High School Invitational, junior Mia Rodriguez had perhaps the best performance of her career to date. The emerging star from Chicago Heights Marian Catholic High School but representing the Illinois Shockers Track Club came away with several solid performances.
Rodriguez competed in three events in the one-day invite. She started the day in the 400m and dropped an IL#1 58.80 personal best to win prelim heat #15. Rodriguez missed the final by 0.006. It would not deter in the 200m as she ran another PB in 26.08. The latter is currently good for IL#3.
Rodriguez tallied over 1600 votes and more than 50% of the lion's share in the first offering of the season.
