-Christmas came a year early for the Duchesses of York when they stunned the Illinois cross country world by defeating the Naperville North supreme squad at the Shazam XC Championship. Although it was not an official state championship, the meet did have for the most part the best teams in the state present. And more importantly, it provided a boost to a group that returns five starters who broke 18:00. Brooke Berger led the 49-second scoring charge that ultimately upended the Huskies title run.
The track season provided proof that success was not a fluke as a slew of girls ran personal bests, earned individual and relay all-state honors. Lastly, coach DeAngelis is ready for the season to begin and build upon the success they have gained. "The entire team is extremely dedicated and has a tireless work ethic," she said. "Looking forward to a more "normal" season for all athletes!"
