The 45th Annual Pat Savage Invitational Full Recap

GIRLS RESULTS-

Top 5 teams: Oswego East 131, Montini 141, Evanston 148, Northside Prep 160, Trinity 172

Oswego is a name that is emerging on the cross country scene this season in a big way. The elder Oswego girls program has moved steadily up in the Saucony Flo 50 Rankings. Oswego East is emerging as well. It is a school that spawned from Oswego HS in 2004. Now maybe the Lady Wolves can be a team to watch as the post-season is approaching. A 50 second spread from 1-5 which landed all five scorers within the top 50 was good enough to hold off 2A #10 Montini Catholic by 10 points. Senior Abby Cain led the way in 17th place.

Montini is a strong front running team who had three girls in the top 10. Seniors Emma Makowski, Gianna Salzbrunn, and Lauren Denemark made it look like a rout upfront with the leading pack. However, the Broncos were hurt in the back of the pack where things tend to matter the most. The fourth and fifth scorers placed 50th and 74th which added a ton of points on the final score.

Evanston is a team that worked very hard over the summer often running to the lakefront from school in the early morning hours. The Wildkits could be just that squad to advance to state from the open #5 spot at the Lake Park Sectional. But once again it is going to take a strong finish from the #5 position. #1 runner junior Emma Dzwierzynski helped greatly with a solid third place effort.
