As far as teams go, it will be a different looking field with numerous team defections up to 2A like Decatur St. Teresa, Rochester, and several other teams.
Urbana (University) was a surprise team last year in defeating Decatur St. Teresa. The 1-2 punch of Arielle Summit and Annemarie Michael may be on hold. Summit was in recovery mode last spring through the summer. We will see on Saturday. Packs win cross country races and that is what it is going to take to get the top prize.
Daly Galloway (Dwight Coop) should be the heavy favorite to win despite finishing second to Summit last year.

Rockford Christian and Johnsburg battle to a one point difference last year. Rockford Christian is now in 2A unless the meet director let them stay down despite the IHSA ruling. Johnsburg is back for more. It will be tough with power Elmwood in the field
While this race is not as loaded team-wise as the girl's race, the boy's race will be a major indicator as to which mid-ranked teams stand out in the very densely competitive mass of squads.
Tanner Chada (Aurora Christian) and Tyler Johnson (Pleasant Plains) should duel for the win.
