Naperville North Girls

Naperville North returns from a third place finish last fall.  They are led by four returners including top two finishers for their team last year, Maria McDaniel and Kimber Meyer. McDaniel, who finished 31st in her junior season, comes in with a three mile best of 17:37. She dipped under 5:10 for the 1600 this spring. Meyer focused more on the 3200m and ran a season best time of 11:01. These two are both coming off of strong year last year and should help North have another great year this year.

Others to add into the mix are Elly Deturris. As a freshman she finished 68th at the state meet with a time of 18:11. While her best time of 17:38 is the second best on the team, she was the fifth runner for last years team.  She ran a great 3200m this fall of 10:56. With a year of experience under her belt watch for her to be a key factor for the Huskies. Also their seventh runner from last year, Alex Moxon, set a great personal best this spring in the 1600m, running a 5:15 at the Dupage Valley Conference meet.

The Huskies are well rounded this year and should accomplish the lofty goals they have set for 2012. 

Coach Iverson Says...

"We look pretty good. We bring back a lot, together with some decent newcomers.  We should be led by Maria McDaniel (5:07), Elly DeTurris (10:56), Kimber Meyer (11:00), and Alex Moxon (5:10).  We have some sophomores, juniors and seniors who have really stepped up from last year as well.  At minimum, we should be pretty deep and we should be able to challenge most anyone with some success. We have five pretty good freshmen. They may or may not factor into our top seven this year, but they provide really nice depth for us. "
 
"We are always looking to win the state championship. Certainly, that is our focus. However, on the way to that, we view each meet as a stepping stone in that direction. Our conference meet (DuPage Valley) is a focus of our entire team, as it is the last time we compete together."
