Comments: Whitney Young, at this early point, appears to be back in contention after being removed from a state title two years ago. The well-rounded Dolphins have rising junior Angelena Bullocks as a key cog in the individual speed events who is also a member of two state-leading sprint relays. Veteran Simone Bernard leads
the class in the 60H, and rising Junior Layla Bonilla appears
to be a triple-threat jumper. Chidiogo Odeluga, in the shot put, could be that secret weapon for the squad. Prospect has some major
players back from last season's trophy team, many have fully debuted while
others have not, there is a lot of potential for this current Knights squad. Early on, Veronica Znajda and Lily Ginsberg were involved in individual distance events. They are aided by having quality in all three relays; we don't believe they have been fully loaded.
All-Stater Charlotte Deines hasn't
gotten to peak form yet, but she is lurking like a thief in the Knight. Mia Sirois is
one of the nation's best freshmen in the distance events, a welcomed addition
to a pretty good Barrington squad that includes state XC champion Scout Stormsand emerging star freshman Mia Sirois. The Fillies haven't gone all out at this point, but they have the pieces
to do so if they choose in the near future. One of those pieces, senior Sofiabella Amirante, in the shot put, will be of importance as the season progresses. Huntley has an
All-American candidate in jumps specialist Dominique Johnson, who
will make her mark on both the runway and oval. Sophie Amin is
back from injury and is looking for a big bounce back. Victoria Evtimov looks
to take that next step individually while also boosting the Red Raider's quality
sprint relay units. Huntley's 4x800m is a threat as well. Zawadi Brown is
all over the place for Neuqua Valley, maybe she had multi dreams, or not. Either way, she and Olivia Dalson individually are threats for a Wildcats team that also has quality relays. A bunch of 3A
girl teams are in the mix, it is so early, we'll see how everyone progresses.
