Proviso West Boys Invitational Meet Info I Watch List

Expect to see quality action for the 58th Annual Boys Invite hosted inside of the Panthers field house.

Sprints: Tervous Graves (Sr., Proviso West) is the one to beat in the 60m and will attempt to break 7.00 for the first time. If he is to do it, WSC Silver foe Cash Langley (Sr., York) will be the one for the upset.

Kenneth Buchanon (Sr., E. St. Louis Sr.) is a multiple all-stater ready to roll in the 400m for the first time indoors. His seed time is 52.0, but expect that to drop significantly.

Armond Boulware (Jr., Chicago Kenwood) came on strong individually during the summer and has continued through the early portion of the indoor season.  He ranks #6 in the state 200m with a solid 22.35.

Distance: The first race of the morning will be the 3200m. Expect to see some quality efforts from the top three seeds led by Will Kozlowski (Sr., Chicago Lane), Josh Poeschel (Sr., Downers Grove South), and Anan Bauman (Sr., Chicago Lane). The winning effort could threaten the 9:20 barrier.

The fastest section of the 800m will provide some quick action. Grant Giblin (Sr., Sandburg) leads the charge with the top seed- 2:00. But seven others are seeded under 2:05, meaning the depth will provide excitement.

Newcomer Brady Golomb (Sr., York) ran 4:18 for 1600m several weeks ago, opening some eyes around the state. For the mile title, he will face the likes of veterans Nicholas Strayer (Sr., Lyons) and Aidan Murphy (Jr., Wheaton North).

Field events: The state's leading shot putter, Kaden Garland (Sr., Oak Park-River Forest), has tossed the ball 61'0" and ranks #14 in the country. He could boost himself higher with the energy of the fans who virtually sit on the top of the shot put ring.

The 3A state defending long jump champion Parrish Hartley (Jr., Chicago Kenwood) is back. He could explode and jump a serious number on the field. The high 22'0" is a reality.

Gavin Schaer (Sr., York) has emerged on the pole vault scene with a 15'8" clearance. Can he top 16'?

Logic West (Jr., Chicago Kenwood) rates #3 in the state high jump at 6'5" and is the odds on favorite.
