Huntsville, AL- Barrington took a bittersweet moment of not advancing to Portland for the Nike Cross Nationals and turned it into a positive one in Rocket City. Representing with the alias the Dark Horse, the six-girl crew of Scout Storms (Jr.), Mia Sirois (Fr.), Kaleigh Burns (Sr.), Sabrina Roach (Jr.), Sydney Sukel (Sr.), and Abby Lewis (So.) took second place in the gold division behind Fossil Ridge of Colorado, 101-118.
Storms and Sirois took charge of their team's fortune by finishing seventh and ninth places overall. They were able to navigate very nasty conditions on a usually fast and dry course. Initially, Storms was up front with the leaders through the first mile in 5:28.
Storms would fade by the second mile, but Sirois joined her in 11:33. The rest of the fillies took 34th, 35th, and 40th slots, respectively.
