Cross Country 2024 Is On The Horizon; Catch It If You Can

It's time to get a visual view of the 2024 cross-country season in the rearview mirror! We take a moment to promote a great sport!

The 2024 summer relaxation period and cross country training sessions are now in full effect. Before you know it, it will be time for school for the kiddies and weekend cross-country meets for distance runners statewide. Illinois is second to none when it comes to the sport of endurance. The land of Lincoln has always had an incredible band of solid distance runners year in and year out. The legion of fans and parents who follow the sport closely makes it especially fun to cover throughout the season.

The official calendar reporting starts on Monday, August 12, and the first meets can commence two weeks later on August 26. Small meets usually dominate the early scene during the onset. However, once the calendar turns to September, things will begin to heat with the start of major invitationals.

Of course, this season's outlook will be intense but uncertain, with some notable graduations and perhaps a changing of the guard regarding teams. Even with expert reporting and top-notch previews, we don't know exactly how things will play out. It will be highly intense, impacting the team and individual outlook. Regardless of the changes, it should be an excellent season for all involved.
