Future Star: Jordan Hamb On The Lam From Her Competitors

Jordan Hamb gives her take on things after competing in the recent Chicago Public Schools Indoor Championship

The sprints corps on the girls' side within the Chicago Public League is strong and it has gotten a bit deeper with the addition of Chicago South Shore International Prep freshman Jordan Hamb. Hamb comes from a family of strong talent, one of her cousins is former South Shore HS star Consuella "Connie" Moore (Hamb) who starred in the late 1990s. Moore is also an Olympian from 2004 that competed in the Athens Games.

Hamb is not a newcomer to the track and field scene. She got her start and stardom like several other great youngsters with the Hounds and Foxes Track Club. Not ready to fit in a sprint box, Hamb is a team player and ready to do it all. She can hurdle, jump, run fast on relays, and of course sprint in the flats (60m/7.83). Hamb is the state's top freshman in the 60H with a good time of 9.03- also the seventh fastest in Illinois.

Recently, at the Chicago Public Schools indoor championship meet, Hamb was runner-up in the 60H, took sixth in the 200m (26.35), ran on the fifth place 4x200 relay (1:47.36), and sixth in the long jump (16-3).
