Pre-Season Girls Indoor Preview: The Showstopping 4x400

Prospect and Lincoln-Way East go at it at the 2022 DGS Mustang Relays

2022: TOP PERFORMING RELAYS

This event is tough to predict and figure out unless you actually know who runs on the relay. A Lot of times a team would add their 800m runner or move a sprinter up to quicken times at some relay-centric meets. Some long hurdlers will be mixed in as well. One never really knows who has what until indoor championship season.

Kenwood: Return two athletes from last outdoor season's all-state team. Asia Thomas is amongst the top 400m returners, while her teammate Harmony Brown IL provides stability similar to all sprint relays outdoors.

Homewood-Flossmoor can add three known athletes to try and bring the heat. All-Stater Angela Alozie could extend any lead or close any gap. Ana-Liese Torian could bring her long sprinter experience while their 800m specialist Daija Brown could drop down and offer a good split.

Kankakee returns defending 2A state champion Naomi Bey-Osborne and could gain the services of Aniya Lewis to aid in making the Kays a formidable unit.

Normal Community will always be a factor as long as they have Allison Ince on its roster. Guess what? She is the defending state 3A champion in the 400 and she returns and loves to run the relay

Honorable Mention: Rockford Christian, Evanston Township, Prospect, Monticello, Naperville (Neuqua Valley), Elmhurst York, Huntley, Plainfield North, Hinsdale Central
