Gately Track & Field has been the epicenter of either record-breaking performances or near record-breaking performances this year. This past weekend was no exception. The Under Armor-infused relay groups first got the job done in the all-star 4x1 mile with a flat-out sizzling performance. In that affair, it was Roisin Willis, Cherry Creek's Riley Stewart, Winter Springs' Caroline Wells, and Chicago Latin's Ava Parekh earning their stripes and honors.

The second event, the Distance Medley Relay (DMR), commenced approximately one hour and fifteen minutes later. The unique but popular event legs go as follow: 1200, 400, 800, 1600.

With a space crowd on hand but friendly cheerleaders lining the track would help leadoff runner Stanford bound seniorJuliette Whittaker of Maryland. Fresh off of a national record in the 1000m, she provided a strong leg in 3:20.65. Next up was Willis who switched into a sprint mode. Her split was 53.65 and kept the unit ahead of the official high school mark 19:59.24 by Saratoga Springs, New York. The final two runners, Allison Ince of Illinois and Mia Cochran of Pennsylvania clocked 2:10.05 and 4:49.11.

The final time was 11:15.45 and it produced another record. Though it will not go into the official record books, it was a great gesture of teamwork and sportsmanship for the running culture.
