Future Star: Julie Piot has a bright future for Naperville N

Naperville North's Julie Piot finishes out a strong finish in the 2021 state cross country championship

You have missed the coming of sophomore Julie Piot this past fall in cross country. That's probably because most cross country pundits were fixated on the Naperville North girls finishing sixth in the 3A state championship. The uncharacteristic placement overshadowed the 18:01 personal best performance which netted a second girl team finish and 70th overall.

The Huskies will rebound next fall but the foundation of some of its youth (namely Piot) is being built now. In her first track meet of the season, Piot won the Wheaton-Warrenville South Girls Invite #2 3200m in a big PB 11:12.46. It also happens to be the fastest time in the state for the event.

As the season matures, Piot is going to be someone who is going to be heard loud and clear.
