Boys: The buck will stop here after the clock strikes past 11:30 and the results start rolling in. Morton is going to have to show its true card. The Potters have played possum so far in two contests. They took third probably competing at three-quarter speed in their first contest at Normal Community. They won the Galesburg Invite with ease last weekend. Josh Weeks and Yonas Wuthrich will be expected to step up on Saturday if Morton is worthy of the top perch.

Belvidere North is not going to wait around to see if games are going to be played. The Blue Thunder will strike with top man Evan Horgan who has run well in two contests. He had run on a rough Veteran Acres course last weekend. He could be ready to roll on Saturday.

Girls: Will Vernon Hills run their top squad? Some reports have said they may have a girl or two sitting out. If not, they will be in for a strong battle vs. Grayslake Central. After that, it's a close battle among the next five ranked teams. Latin will be without superstar Ava Parekh. She is on a college visit this weekend.

The individual race may overshadow the team battle. Freshman phenom in the making Mia Kotler of Latin has been destined to be the next Romans star. She clocked 17:40 last weekend in the Hornet-Devil frosh race. Bella Domier of Grayslake Central is a tough competitor. So is Elia Ton-That of Chicago Northside Prep. She will be making her season debut and is looking forward to the opportunity to compete against the best in the state.
