2021 MileSplit IL Power Rankings: Week 6

The narrative:  This week should set up an intriguing state final competition. Right now we believe Winnebago is the team to beat, but we're positive other teams aren't trying to hear it. To beat the Indians, their foes are going to have to overcome a strong presence in the relays and the distance running arena. Natalia Martino leads the 1600m and will probably add the 3200 to her resume for sectionals.

We will see some pre-state battles as Salt Fork and St. Joseph-Ogden will duke it out Wednesday, the Milesplit team will be there to see it. Gracie Jessup and Shelby McGee will try and go 1-2 in the 100H and 300H. That's a quick 38 points on the board. Add in Brynlee Keeran in the triple jump for added pain. The Trojans will counter with a star of its own in Atleigh Hamilton. She is a two-time state long jump champion. Hamilton has also anchored several fleet-footed relays.

The defending champion from 2019 is Duquoin and they have Olivia Phillps who is expected to at least double in the 400 and 800.
