There was a time where the 1000m, 600m, and 300m were a staple of indoor track and field. Various track sizes (320m to 150m) provided meet directors with creative ways to keep the undercover sport entertaining. Somewhere in the early 1990s, when things began to shift to match outdoor events. Several top-notched east coast meets still contest aforementioned events on occasion, but it's still a lost delicacy.
Enter meet director Jeff Bryant of CYUPTRAINING.COM. Coach Bryant, who is a former collegiate track athlete and a big fan of the sport, has always wanted to throw a wrench in the established playbook. "I think it makes track and field fun to switch up the status quo sometimes," said Bryant. The meet is slated for February 19-20 at the new Gately Indoor Track and Field Center in Chicago.
