The skinny: Fans, athletes, and officials waited tirelessly last year for the major weekend jumpoff. After several hours of thunder, lightning, and rain it was a no go as meet officials had to cancel. This year promises to be vastly different in terms of Mother Nature's feelings. She is in a good mood now and is expected to spare us all with a great weekend of cross country racing at its finest. Expect very deep fields with both genders: the girls will see the living legend Katelynne Hart of Glenbard West going after more accolades. Wheaton-Warrenville South is the team to beat with their depth, experience, and front running firepower. The "W" not be easy for the Tigers!
The boy's race will be exciting with last year's state champion Wheaton South leading the charge. The Tigers still have a load of talent on the team. Oswego East, New Trier, and the Naperville trio schools (NV, NC, NN) will make a charge to the front. Individually, it's anyone's guess who the favorite will be. Check out the full boys preview to find out.
