This year’s version of the St. Rita Mustangs is ready to roll. We return nearly all our top guys from last year and hope to do big things as a team.
So far this season I competed in four meets, including the Ted Haydon Classic (in December) in which I ran a 7.78 PR in the 55HH without much training due to football season. Most recently I along with a few of my teammates, traveled to the University of Kentucky to compete against some of the best track athletes in the Midwest. I ran a personal best 8.40 in the 60HH but tweaked my groin during the race and finished 10th overall.
It was an amazing experience for us; we loved the campus, facilities, and weather there. In addition, the KFC is way better there than in Chicago. I will never eat it anywhere else but Kentucky. My coach, Jonathon Daniel, did a great job in scheduling some great meets for the team because he wants us battled tested by the time championship season arrives. I look forward to competing against some of the best hurdlers in the state throughout the year. I know that it will make me better. Some goals I have this year includes winning conference in the hurdles (indoors & out) and medaling at state in May.
I would like to thank Tony Jones and Milesplit Illinois for allowing me to contribute to the site with this blog. I would like to thank my teammates and coaches for pushing me through practices allowing me to get better. I would also like to wish everyone good luck this year and to stay healthy. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for great weather this spring so we as a state can put up even greater performances. Thanks for reading!
