In Her Own Words: Rachel Devereux- Tis The Season For Running

“HERE IT IS! HERE IT IS!!” No, not the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown - CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON! Yes folks it’s that time of year, while the average student looks at fall being a time for hoodies, UGGS, pumpkin spice lattes and trips to the pumpkin patch,  my teammates and I are experiencing something a little different.

What I look forward to most about fall is perfect running weather, racing spikes and flats, hydrating out the wazoo and those last four meets of the year. This is what the Bulldogs of Decatur St. Teresa like to call Championship Season. Why, you ask? Because to us, these are the meets we get a chance to truly perform like champions. We see these meets as our last chance to Improve and race to our highest potential. We strive to perform the best we can….like a champion would. Conference, regionals, sectionals, and state are the meets we have been training for all year long and we are finally just weeks, even days away. We couldn’t be more excited about it! All of our hard work is finally being put to the test.

Being a senior it really makes quite an impact . Everything you’ve worked for the last four years is about to come to an end. As I mentioned in my first blog, high school flies by like a giant race. As for me, I’ve got about 400 meters left to go in my giant race. It’s crazy to think that the season is coming to an end, so why not go out with a BANG? As a runner and a diehard NASCAR fan, I say … boogity, boogity, boogity! Let’s go racing!
