Nike Cross Nationals: Let's Meet The Midwest Individual Boys

Dylan Jacobs (Sr., Sandburg HS; Orland Park, IL)- It is like Superman's powers were usurped. Jacobs was competing like Superman until he caught a nasty viral infection the week of the state championship. Though Jacobs is recovering some of his lost strength he is not the same runner that ran 13:57 on Sept 30. Yes, he did win the Hinsdale Central Sectional against Danny Kilrea a few weeks later. But the point whether he got sick or not it would have been a tall task to duplicate such an all-time effort again. Very few runners run as fast as their season or personal bests beyond the state meet anyway. It is all about maintaining fitness and smart racing at the elite training and racing level. Let's see if Dylan can rebound and be that runner that we were all super hyping earlier this month.
