Danny Kilrea (Sr., Lagrange Lyons Township HS; Lagrange, IL)- "I have been pleasantly surprised to be honest," said Jeff Kilrea, father of Danny when asked what he thought of his son's senior cross country success. It's hard to be suprised by a young man who has blitzed most of his competition over the past two years. Kilrea was the defending regional champion and later went on to earn All-American honors with a 13th place finish in Portland. Fast forward to now where he has added state championship and Footlocker Regional winning credits to Kilrea's report card makes him an "A" student in cross country. The US#3 ace has a legitimate chance this weekend to surpass the competition and earn the gold medal. What Kilrea needs to do on Saturday is remain patient from the start and not necessarily have to lead. Brody Hasty is a fast starter and the best runner on paper. Cross Country is a sport where instincts often come into play.
