The 2014 Prospect Wanner Invitational for boys provided a surreal scene for the 1600m. The event was cast well past twi-light and on its way toward the 10 o'clock hour. Zach Dale, then a junior at Conant High School in Hoffman Estates, provided the fireworks.

Last season was a banner year in boys track and field. The great regular season performances would go on and translate well in the state series. GREATNESS can only be measured against your peers and it usually happens over time. There is no doubt that the Lincoln-Way East girls track and field program has achieved greatness in a very short period of time. The Griffins have won two state team championships and other numerous accolades. When you take a moment and pinpoint what they have accomplished over the past five seasons, the 4x100m relay usually comes to mind. LWE came very close to becoming the first Illinois girls team to break 46-seconds. Now you can relive the exciting ground floor action that became the all-time record.
The 4x800m relay without question is the deepest and most popular event on the boys event ledger. In 2014, there were an amazing 15 teams ranked among the nation's top 100- the most of any state in this great union. There were 34 teams that broke 8:00 which also was #1 in the country.
