The Green Bay Cross Country Teams Had a Good Showing at the Huskie Invitational

Northwestern capitalized on five top-10 finishes by its runners by winning the 2009 Huskies Open hosted by Northern Illinois Saturday in DeKalb, Ill. Freshman Allegra Mayer (19:06.26) crossed the finish line first for NU and third overall while classmate Audrey Huth (19:25.04) came up with a sixth-place overall finish in the first race of her Wildcat career.
Senior Abbie Zaspel won the Huskie Invitational to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the nine-team meet Saturday afternoon.Zaspel led the entire race and completed the course in 18:55 to finish just over seven seconds ahead of second place. Freshman Elise Sigg continued the promising start to her collegiate career by taking fifth in 19:23.34.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's cross country team took second through fifth places at the Huskie Invitational to take first place at the six-team meet Saturday afternoon. The Panthers finished with 31 points to pace the field, while Western Illinois took second with 46, just ahead of Iowa Western Community College in third with 53. Green Bay placed fourth in the team standings with 119 points, while Judson was fifth with 135 and Chicago State sixth with 157.
