Mid-Suburban League Meet 2007

With eyes focusing on other more hyped up match-ups, the Mid-Suburban League Championship Meet certainly held its own in Illinois.  In the boys race, Palatine won their fifth straight conference title, beating runner-up Hersey by 22, 62-84, while Hersey senior Kevin Havel won the individual title by 13 seconds.  The girls race was a surprise.  While many expected Hoffman Estates to challenge for top three, few expected them to win.  HE beat Barrington by four points, 92-96, while Amber Stack (Wheeling) and Annette White (Prospect) tied at the line for first.

Just like in college football, where six major conferences make up the majority of top teams in the land, in Illinois, four conferences make up the majority of the top ranked teams in AAA.  With ten of the top fifteen girls teams, and twelve of the top fifteen boys teams, the DuPage Valley Conference, West Suburban Conference, Mid-Suburban League and Upstate Eight Conference dominate AAA cross country.  Here are their conference previews.
